ChangeTan

(chang = pers. for harp, tan = pers. for body)
We at changeTan set a particular importance to the significant transmission of vibrations to the body.
With our changeTan you can generate vibrations that trigger a positive resonance in the body that leads to a deep state of relaxation. Due to the direct contact of the instrument with the body, a tactile-somatosensory stimulus is passed through the skin into the body. The vibration and sound are distributed particularly efficiently due to the enormous conductivity of water, which makes up most of our body. The resonance can reach every cell in the body and bring it into a new (temporary) harmonic order. The use of changeTan is an archaic experience because it leads us from the here-and-now state to a level of consciousness in which we simply “are” and in which time and space plays no role. When using a changeTan, the human body turns into a “resonance box”; the result is the vibration of the body itself.

Positive effects of changeTan
from a neuropsychological point on:

  • Perception and thinking
  • Motor skill
  • Increases attention span and the ability to concentrate
  • Learning and memory
  • Verbal communication and language
  • The expression of emotions
  • Social behavior

We offer changeTan in a Barsanti bag, a tuning key, an electronic tuner with a microphone, and a cable book.

ChangeTan – a body instrument

The changeTan {chang = pers. For harp, tan = pers. For body) is a string instrument made of wood, which belongs to the family of “body instruments”. lt is to be understood as an advanced instrument invention of the monochord. The monochord has received great popularity in the music therapy scene for many decades and is mainly used in receptive work. The changeTan, a further development of the monochord – was especially designed for it’s application on the human body.

The changeTan is not a musical instrument in the traditional sense – on which one e.g. can perform virtuosic melodies – but a therapeutic instrument that can also be played in the music world.

Presentation of the changeTan

The changeTan was developed in February 2020 by Salam Riazy, music therapist and composer and Meysam Amini, instrument maker and musician Designed and built in Iran.

The instrument has the following specifications:

-Rectangular, light wooden body with the dimensions 70x33xllcm

-Weight of approx. 2 kg

-The bottom of the changeTan is concave, which improves the support of the instrument on the human body

-Stringing with 25 steel strings, recommendation based on a = 432 Hz.

Harmonie

“The term harmonics should not be confused with that from music theory”
Harmonics, as the English term harmonics already says, is about harmonics – more precisely, the structure of the harmonic series. One of the main concerns of harmonics is to prove proportions as cosmic norms. The focus of this worldview is on acoustic laws, which can be explained and experienced based on the changeTan. With the help of small wooden bridges that allow the changeTan strings to be subdivided, the following proportions result: the octave 2: 1, the fifth 3: 2, the fourth 4: 3, the major third 5: 4, the minor third 6 : 5 and so on.

Body instrument

Body instruments are used in professional music therapy, the development of which places special emphasis on the possibility of tactile perceptible transmission of the vibrations of the instrument to the human’s body. Playing such an instrument, like any other instrument, generates vibrations. The special thing about body instruments is that these vibrations are transmitted through the skin into the client’s body through the direct contact between the human body and the instrument. This not only leads to an auditory perception of the sound, but also to a tactile and therefore more holistic stimulation of the Participant.

Professional and application areas for the changeTan:

and all those who are looking for resonance to enjoy and promote health.

Monochord’s story

The monochord is a measuring and musical instrument, which has become known through the Greek philosopher Pythagoras. The archaic version of the monochord is the musical bow, e.g. the Brazilian berimbao, in which the mouth or a pumpkin bowl serves as a resonance chamber.
